POSITION SUMMARY:

As the leader and decision-maker of the information technology (IT) department, the Director is responsible for overseeing the development, execution, support, and evaluation of a robust and comprehensive information technology system. In addition, the Director focuses the department on innovation, efficiency, and implementation of effective industry-leading technology practices that will aid the district in providing the highest quality educational programs, services, and infrastructure to ensure smooth management of the overall operation. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s degree in a technology-related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of technology management and/or leadership experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Successful experience with project management. 
• Experience leading and working with a diverse group of people.
• Embodies the core values of the district; relational, purposeful, reflective, resourceful, courageous and accountable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Master’s degree or higher in a technology-related field.

• Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL).

• Experience working in an IT role.

 

• Experience with the E-Rate process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides leadership for short and long-range planning for all technology initiatives: innovation, vision, goals, program objectives, infrastructure, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting, and collaboration with others. 
• Coordinates the planning, development, and evaluation of the district’s technology plan.
• Oversees district-wide E-Rate initiatives to include planning, application filing, reimbursement processing and maintaining accountability requirements.
• Supervises the coordination and operation of applications for personal computing devices, local area networks, wide area networks, instructional software, media automation systems, telecommunications, and multimedia.
• Provides support and technical assistance with project management for district improvement projects pertaining to technology. 
• Advises district leadership on the financial and security implications of technology programs and services.
• Establishes IT goals and timelines for projects to optimize return on investment, improve information technology systems, evaluate technology trends and provide consultation to district leaders to effectively meet long-term information needs of the system.
• Plans, organizes, and manages information technology programs and projects.
• Develops and maintains the IT budget.
• Oversees the implementation and integration of IT systems, including the integration of new software and platforms into existing computer systems to ensure that technology is optimized.
• Manages IT staff and implements practices that focus on service excellence to all stakeholders.
• Coordinates and/or provides professional development for technology staff throughout the district.
• Maintains technology operations to include technology support, systems administration, network management, telecommunications operations, physical security systems, and data management.
• Plans for, establishes, and maintains data systems utilized by stakeholders, including assuring data integrity and assisting stakeholders in data access and utilization.
• Supervises the system-wide inventory of technology assets.
• Maintains a work order ticketing system for technology-related needs and establishes protocols to ensure tickets are completed in a timely manner and accurately.

• Ensures adherence to governmental regulations and guidelines for technological systems and safeguarding of data.
• Maintains liaison with the State Department of Education, other school districts, the information industry, and others as appropriate to maintain up-to-date information on technological developments in the field.
• Develops and implements continuity protocols to minimize disruption of school operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
• Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information and facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or designated supervisor in accordance with Policy GBI - Evaluation of Personnel.
